How do I make my Wall on Facebook only visible to me?

Question by “kate”: How do I make my Wall on Facebook only visible to me?
I want the comments people send to me via my Wall to be accessible only by me. I don’t want my friends or anyone to see what comments have been posted on my wall without restricting people from posting comments. How do I go about this?

Question by chris: My Facebook wall is gone on computer but is visible on mobile?
Today my Fbook wall just disappeared. I can’t view it, nor can my friends. I can look at it on my phone? All my Photos and and info is available just no wall. I checked my privacy settings. Help. I’m lost.

Sign in to your Facebook account. Click “Account” in the top right corner of the home screen and select “Privacy Preferences.” Under the “Sharing on Facebook” section click “Customize settings.” Under the “Things Others Share” section click the box next to “Enable” located to the right of “Friends can post on my Wall.” To remove the Facebook Wall uncheck the box next to “Enable.”

Control Who Views Your Posts
You can prevent other people from posting on your Wall and you can control who can view what you post on your own Wall. Sign in to your Facebook account. Click “Account” in the top right corner of the home screen and select “Privacy Preferences.” Under the “Sharing on Facebook” section click “Customize settings.” Under the “Things I share” section click on the drop down menu to the right of “Posts by me.” Click “Customize” to select specific people who you do not want to view your posts. You can also choose other options, including “Friends Only” or “Friends of Friends.”

Purpose of Controlling Your Wall
A Facebook Wall is a public place where all your friends can view your status updates and short conversations with your friends. Sometimes your friends may post a comment on your Wall that includes personal information that you do not want anyone else to read. Disabling your wall is a way to prevent people from posting private information on your Wall.

Other Ways to Communicate on Facebook
Even if you disable your Facebook Wall you still have two different ways to communicate with your friends over Facebook in a private setting. Sending a private message is like sending an email. Your friends can send you a message by clicking “Message” on your profile. Another way to communicate is through Facebook Chat, which is an instant message program. Your friends can see if you are online in the Chat list in the bottom right corner of any Facebook screen. If you message a friend or a friend messages you, you can have an instant message conversation in private.

Making Digital Durable: What Time Does to Categories Clay Shirky, Nov 02005, Seminar About Long Term Thinking “THIS is what the Internet has been straining to become,” said Clay Shirky Monday night, both joking and meaning it. He was referring to a category (“tag”) which emerged from users on the photo-sharing site Flickr. The category is “cats in sinks.” Growing use of the unlikely seeming tag exposed something that a lot of cats do and a lot of people feel compelled to photograph… Shirky pointed out that “cats in sinks” has none of the limitations of former category systems such as the Dewey Decimal System or the Library of Congress scheme or Yahoo’s hierarchical category structure. There is no need for a category “cats” with subcategory “in sinks,” nor a category “sinks” with subcategory “cats in”.
